Taking payments online
Connecting Stripe, deposits, Direct Debits, payouts and card readers.
Connecting Stripe
Online payments go through Stripe, straight into your own Stripe account: Hally never holds your money. In Settings → Payments, press Connect Stripe. If you already have Stripe, sign in to it; if not, Stripe sets one up in a few minutes (you'll need your bank details and some ID). Stripe may take a day or two to check your details; the app tells you when it's ready.
Deposits and full payments
Each service can take a deposit, the full price, or nothing up front (Settings → Services & prices). A patient's slot is held while they pay; if they don't, it's released.
Fees, refunds and payouts
Stripe's fees come off each payment, and Stripe pays out to your bank on its usual schedule. You'll find payouts, fees and disputes in your Stripe dashboard. Refunds can be started from the appointment or invoice in Hally.
Card payments in the clinic
In Settings → Payments, choose how you take cards in person. If you use your own card machine (such as Clover), take the card on it, then press Paid on the card reader at checkout with the amount, so your takings add up.
Stripe card readers
With Stripe card reader chosen, pair each reader (such as a WisePOS E or S700) with your own Stripe account: buy it from Stripe, connect it to the clinic's wifi, then on the reader open Settings and choose Generate pairing code. In Settings → Payments → Card readers, give it a name (such as "Front desk"), enter the words it shows and choose which site it's at, then press Pair reader. With more than one site, Stripe needs each site's street, town and postcode (Settings → Locations).
At checkout, Card on reader sends the amount to the reader at the appointment's site; with more than one reader, staff can pick another. The payment counts once Stripe confirms it. To stop using a reader, press Remove next to it: it's unpaired from your Stripe account too.
